Tornado Bumper leaders

Tornado Flasher bumper leaders are heavy-duty pre-leaders designed to connect your main fishing line to a rotating 360 flasher while preventing frustrating line tangles. They act as a protective spacer, or "bumper," that absorbs the aggressive spinning action of flashers used in salmon trolling.
What They Do
When you troll for salmon using high-rotation attractors like Pro-Troll or kicker-fin flashers, the constant spinning can twist your main line into a knotted mess. A bumper leader sits right abovethe flasher to absorb that spin.
Stop Line Twist: They are typically rigged with specialized, ultra-smooth Tornado bead chain swivels or high-speed ball-bearing swivels. These swivels spin freely so the rotation stays at the flasher and doesn't twist your mainline.
Control the Flasher's Roll: The length of the bumper changes how your lure moves. A shorter bumper (like 18 inches) creates a faster, tighter spin. A longer bumper (24 to 30 inches) allows for a wider, slower thumping roll.
Protect Expensive Gear: These leaders are made from incredibly tough materials—usually 150 to 200-pound monofilament or heavy coated stainless steel cable. This stiffness prevents the flasher from tangling with your heavy sinker or dropper weight line, keeping your gear safe if you hit a snag.
Common Rigging Setups
Anglers usually pick their bumper length based on how deep they are fishing:
18-Inch Bumpers: Perfect for shallow water (under 25 feet) or when you want a highly active, fast-spinning presentation.
24 to 30-Inch Bumpers: The standard choice for deeper trolling (over 50 feet) where you want a wide, high-vibration roll to call fish in from a distance.
They feature strong, quick-disconnect snaps on the bottom end, making it incredibly easy to swap out different colored flashers in seconds without having to cut or re-tie any knots.
